Dr. Blackburn is widely recognized for her discovery of how chromosomes are protected by telomeres and for her co-discovery of the enzyme telomerase, which plays a key role in cell replication, cell aging, and human cancers. Her research has revolutionized the understanding of how cells function and has been called one of the most important discoveries in the field of molecular genetics. Dr. Carl H. June, will participate on a panel and discuss the future of drug development for Precision Oncology. Dr. June is the Director of Center for Cellular Immunotherapies at the Perelman School of Medicine, and Director of the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy at the University of Pennsylvania. Recently awarded ASCO`s prestigious 2017 David A.Karnofsky Memorial Award, he has been a pioneer in the field of immunotherapy, most widely known for the development of CAR T-cell therapy for cancer.
